MAX RACING TEAM
Partnership

The collaboration between six-time World Champion Max Biaggi and Sterilgarda Alimenti, ongoing since 2008, led to the creation of the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team in the Moto3 class in 2017. In its first year the Team competed in the Italian Speed Championship, finishing third in the riders’ standings, achieving two victories and two third-place finishes. The following year the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team took part in the FIM Junior GP, before entering the MotoGP World Championship in the Moto3 class in 2019.
2019
MOTO3 WORLD RUNNERS-UP
The Sterilgarda Max Racing Team competed in the 2019 Motorcycle World Championship in the Moto3 class with Aron Canet. The Spanish rider immediately showed great competitiveness and during the season achieved three victories, one second place, three third places and two pole positions. Thanks to these results, Aron Canet fought for the World Championship title until the final races. In its debut year, the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team secured second place in the riders’ championship.

“The partnership that has linked me to the Sterilgarda brand has been going on since 2008. This year, in the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team’s first participation in the Moto3 World Championship, we achieved second place in the world standings.
It’s an incredible result that allows us to continue the long streak of successes we have achieved together.”

2020
THE STERILGARDA MAX RACING TEAM BRINGS HUSQVARNA MOTORCYCLES TO ITS FIRST CIRCUIT RACE VICTORY
In 2020 the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team became the Factory Team of Husqvarna Motorcycles. For the first time the Team fielded two riders: the Italian, a veteran of the category, Romano Fenati, was joined by Spanish rookie Alonso Lopez. Due to the Covid-19 emergency, the championship started late and as many as 15 races were held within a few months. The Sterilgarda Max Racing Team gradually improved its performance and at the Misano Grand Prix, Romano Fenati brought the Husqvarna Motorcycles brand to the top step of the podium for the first time in a circuit race.

“In this second season in the World Championship, we doubled our commitment by fielding a two-rider team and becoming the Factory Team of the historic Husqvarna Motorcycles brand. We are proud to have brought Husqvarna Motorcycles to the top step of the podium for the first time in a circuit race, once again renewing the Tradition of Champions this year.”

2021
MOTO3 POLE POSITION RECORD
In the 2021 season the partnership between the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team and Husqvarna Motorcycles continued. Romano Fenati was joined by the young Spanish rider Adrián Fernández. At the Silverstone circuit, Romano topped every free practice session, secured pole position, led the warm-up and claimed a dominant victory, leading the race from the very first lap! At the end of the Championship, the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team rider reached fifth place overall, with 1 win, 1 second place, two third places and 3 poles. Thanks to these results, he achieved the Pole position record in 2022.

“Once again this year the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team played a leading role in the Moto3 class. The fifth place achieved in the final riders’ standings and the pole position record obtained are clear signs of the high level of competitiveness reached. Winning is never easy, and repeating it is even harder. Another victory to add to the partnership with Sterilgarda Alimenti!”

2022
VICTORIES WITH SASAKI AND MCPHEE AND THIRD PLACE IN THE TEAMS’ STANDINGS
For the third consecutive year the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team was the Factory Team of Husqvarna Motorcycles. The young Japanese rider Ayumu Sasaki and Moto3 veteran John McPhee formed one of the strongest line-ups in Moto3. Unfortunately, a training injury kept John McPhee away from racing for five rounds, while a serious crash at Mugello prevented Ayumu Sasaki from taking part in two races. Despite this, the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team was a protagonist of the 2023 World Championship. Ayumu Sasaki finished fourth overall, just a few points shy of the world podium, achieving 2 wins, 4 second places, 3 third places and two pole positions. Notably, the historic one-two finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix saw John McPhee win ahead of Ayumu Sasaki. Thanks to the strong results of both riders, the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team finished third in the Teams’ standings.

“Six years have passed since the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team first took to the track! I am extremely proud to have brought Sterilgarda to circuits all over the world. Together we have achieved great results, securing at least one victory in every year of participation and winning with four different riders. See you in 2023 to renew the Tradition of Champions on the MotoGP tracks!”
-Max Biaggi-
In four years of participation in the Moto3 World Championship, the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team took part in 72 races, achieving 22 podiums, including 8 victories and 8 pole positions. The Team brought three great talents back to victory (Aron Canet, Romano Fenati and John McPhee), secured the first win for a young talented rider (Ayumu Sasaki), and brought the historic Husqvarna Motorcycles brand to victory in a circuit race for the first time.
